'Hellcats' Recap: 'Land Of 1000 Dances'

We're nearing the end of season one, and this week's episode of " Hellcats " kicks off with Lewis and his new GF nasty Cathy working on their seductive "in da club" dancing style. No, they aren't drunk or trying to get down, they're practicing their moves for a dance-a-thon to try and win a car for Lewis' dad. Oh wait. Never mind. As soon as we think it's all clean fun, they start making out only to be interrupted by Alice being a bitch…big surprise. Cathy storms out, Lewis confronts Alice and she blames genetics for her not-so-pleasant 'tude. She tries to convince Lewis that she is the better dance partner but is DENIED, and Lewis walks out on her.

Over in Savannah's crumbling life, the news of her dad's bribery/fraud case is all over the papers. While getting ready to go to dinner with Dan's family, Savannah complains about her family's frozen assets. Dan suggests a big family dinner with his family might be better for another night because his dad basically hates her dad for all the fraud. More or less, Savannah is a black sheep and Dan can't bring her around. He leaves, and she asks Marti for Julian's help. Savannah's family can't afford a lawyer and Julian is their only option for free representation. Marti says okay, but is more concerned with her dress.

She has a dinner date with Julian, but after getting dolled up, she ends up going out with her mom because Julian cancels…wah, wah. Turns out he had good reason. Marti drops by Julian's the next day to ask about repping Savannah's dad only for her to find out Julian is a dad to a little girl named Nikki. Cute, but—OMG—can we say relationship baggage?! Marti is kinda pissed, uh, we don't blame her, but Julian smooths things over, for the moment, and agrees to rep Savannah's dad to make up for his secret keeping. He follows up with a romantic dinner at home, slow dancing and sexy time. Hot.

At the Rat, Marti's law student partner, Morgan, tries to send Alice a drink and get her attention, to which she laughs claiming, "You shouldn't try to drive a Maserati when you only have a learner's permit." Classic. She approaches Lewis and his dad having a father-son dinner to try and get him to change his mind again and pair up with her for the dance-a-thon. She's shot down again so she randomly recruits Morgan?! Yeah, I don't get it either.

The dance-a-thon kicks off, and of course it wouldn't be complete without a flashy routine by Ciara right?! Duh! Alice and Morgan bump into Cathy and Lewis, who are not stoked about their participation. Cathy's knee goes out on her, Morgan disappears and Alice steps in to be his partner. Cathy freaks out, breaks up with Lewis, and Lewis takes Alice up on her offer so he can win the car for his dad. Do they win the car?! Of course they do! They're Hellcats. Post-dance, Lewis sees how bad Alice's feet are and carries her home…aww how sweet…could this be the start of a rekindled romance? Oh, hell yes! Lewis totally goes in for the kiss after presenting the car to his dad. Alice is such a manipulator…love her! She really makes the show interesting.

Hellcats Review: "Land of 1000 Dances" - TV Fanatic

Returned with another solid episode brewing with hookups and scandals. Some things hit right on the spot, others were MIA. Let’s dig in and discuss " Land of 1,000 Dances ."

Julian drops a bomb. I knew he had to be too good to be true. No one is that good looking and dripping in all the qualities women want without some skeletons in the closet.

After abruptly canceling dinner with Marti, she goes to find out what the deal is. Turns out my new personal favorite lawyer has a daughter and an ex-wife. Sort of. Legally separated, divorce pending. Whatever...still a major secret. Not that Julian needed to tell Marti this information at this point.

Just last week they were sneaking around and they hadn’t even had their first official date yet when she found out. Unless something is still going on, no use getting upset now. In the wise words of Wanda, “You are too pretty to waste.” That goes for the both of them, especially Marti in that little black dress. (P.S. The two hooking up at the end = HOT.)

Dance Fever. How sweet is Lewis trying to win his dad a car? Although it did seem a little out of left field since we hadn’t heard about his family since the beginning of the season. Doesn’t matter. This provided the chance for Lewis to get rid of Nasty Kathy and get back where he belongs. With Alice. Throughout the past several episodes, you could see the changes in the resident mean girl. You could tell her feelings for Lewis have been legit and she actually was trying to do something without anything in it for her. I couldn’t help but smile as Lewis grabbed her hand and went in for the kiss. These two have great chemistry and fit better than anyone else Lewis has been with.

Savannah’s Family Falls To Pieces. After getting released on bail, Savannah’s dad decides to make a run for it. This situation has its ups and downs, but mostly, it's dull. The adult characters and their arcs do not need to take up to much time and this story is running its course. Here is hoping the writers let Mr. Monroe keep driving without looking back.

With all this going on, there was little time for some of the other favorites. Dan’s few minutes of screen time were not enough and Red and Vanessa were completely missing. They brought in Red’s ex to stir up trouble, and she wasn’t even mentioned in “Land of 1,000 Dances.” Hopefully they make some fun out of this or the build up would have been for nothing.
